Before becoming a defense attorney, Yodit served as a prosecutor for several years with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. Working as a prosecutor in both the adult and juvenile systems has provided Yodit with a wealth of knowledge and experience in trial advocacy. Representing the State in trials and hearings has helped her better understand the intricacies of litigation. Prior to joining the Dallas DA’s office, Yodit served as a law clerk for the 19th Judicial District Court for the Honorable Trudy M. White. During this time, Yodit prepared decisions, provided recommendations, and performed research on a vast array of complex legal issues. Clerking for a criminal judge not only exposed Yodit to the inner-workings of the judicial system, but also developed her ability to analyze legal issues critically.

Originally from Eritrea, a country located in the Horn of Africa, Yodit immigrated to the United States when she was an infant. Raised in Dallas, Texas since then, Yodit went on to obtain her B.A. in English, with a Minor in Communication from Texas A&M University. Yodit received her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, where she served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Race, Gender and Poverty. During law school, Yodit clerked for the Honorable Irma Ramirez of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, as well as the Honorable Douglas D. Dodd of the Middle District of Louisiana.

Yodit believes in bringing both practical experience and personal understanding to her practice. Not only does Yodit have the cognitive intelligence to represent you, she also has the emotional intelligence to fight for you and deliver the best possible outcome for your case. Yodit’s ability to vicariously experience the emotional state of a client allows her to better identify and communicate with and more effectively represent him or her. Above all, Yodit’s strong commitment to improving the lives of hard working and disadvantaged members of society has and will always remain steadfast.
